This past week I have spent a few hours every day
visiting and picking up Ratna. It still takes me a while, 5 minutes to be
exact, to get the guts to pick her up. Ratna was exceedingly jumpy initially,
just like me. When she did not want me to pick her up, Ratna would do this
thing where it looked like she was about to bite me. She did not bite me but
just pretended by moving her nose/mouth towards my fingers. I realized
that if I brought Ratna close to my body she quickly calmed down. One thing I
noticed right off the bat was that she was extremely intelligent. She immediately
noticed when I came into the lab. Ratna also tried multiple times to get out of her cage and on one occasion actually did. She climbed out of her cage to the
holding cage. I was so surprised how she was able to escape like that. Tricky
Ratna! Overall, this past week I have gotten better handling her, and Ratna was
able to get used to me. There is a video of Ratna in her cage and a picture of
Ratna sleeping below.
